In 1928 Rene Magritte painted a portrait of a pipe with the following text: “This is not a pipe.” He labeled it “The Treason of Images”. His body of work supposed that if some part of the world can be shown to be irrational but coherent, nothing is certain. And if nothing is certain, we are triggered to question our assumptions.
